MUJI to charge for cash register paper bags. Plastic bags were abolished in 2020

Ryohin Keikaku, which develops household goods "Mujirushi Ryohin [MUJI]", announced on the 9th that it will charge for paper bags, that were distributed free of charge, from September 1st. There are four sizes, and each one will be sold for 10 yen including tax. The aim is to reduce waste.

From March 2020, MUJI abolished plastic shopping bags and encouraged customers to use their own bags. During fiscal year 2021, 77% of MUJI application members brought their own bags.
