On the 30th, Mitsubishi Estate announced the outline of a new building to be constructed on the site of the commercial facility "IMS" in Tenjin, the downtown area of Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City. A hotel, offices, and commercial facilities will be housed in a building with an exterior design using wooden panels. Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2023 and be completed in March 2026.
The building has 20 floors above ground and 4 floors underground, with a total floor area of approximately 74,000 square meters. Aiming to create an urban space in which the city and nature are in harmony, the exterior design combines large wooden panels called CLT, which are made from wood from Kyushu, and plants. All electricity used in the building will be derived from renewable energy, with commercial facilities on the lower floors and hotels and offices on the middle and upper floors. In addition to the V-shaped pillars that are characteristic of the exterior of the lower floors, an atrium space will be created to create a ground plaza, and an underground plaza that will connect to the Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall.
